Eyelash Review

I'm sorry I have not posted in a while, but here I am to tell you what I thought of my semi-permanent eyelashes.  For the link to buy these please check my previous post. Well, for the first week, I barely knew they were there. They are light weight and low maintenance, and I received many compliments. It was so easy to look groomed without lifting a finger! However, towards the end of the first week, they started to fall out, which was manageable, I just had to start checking in the morning that none were loose before leaving. after about a week and a half, they started to look a little clumpy, where old glue had remained and new glue had been applied probably a little too liberally by me, but they still looked presentable. By the end of the second week, the dried glue had started to irritate my eyes so I decided it was time to remove my eyelashes and give my abused eyes a break. The removal lotion that came with the set made my eyes water, and took a while to loosen the glue, and by the end of it, I had no fake eyelashes, but not many real ones either. I have left my poor naked eyes alone for about two weeks, and my eyelashes have grown back to almost their full former glory, so despite all that faff I am considering using individual lashes once more. They just looked so good, and beauty is pain.. right?

Waking up looking gorgeous!

So, for a few months now I have been obsessed with semi permanent makeup, the kind that sticks around long enough to allow you to wake up looking so fab, all you need to do is throw a dress on in the mornings and go.

Lets start with the hair. I prefer to shower the night before uni days, so I don't have to get up too early (I couldn't if I wanted to). So, after showering, always blowdry your hair, it lifts it at the roots and stops your hair looking too heavy, which looks even worse after a night's sleep. If you suffer from split ends, spray a leave-in conditioner into the ends of your hair while it is damp, scrunching it in with your fingers. Remember, the wetter your hair, the less concentrated the conditioner. I use John Frieda Sheer Blonde Leave-in Conditioner. When your hair is dry, spray your roots with a dry shampoo like Batiste Dry Shampoo, but do not brush out! You will want the powder to stay in your roots and keep them fresh until the morning, and when you can brush your hair, because once you are up, you don't want to look grey. Finally, if you have long hair, scrape it back into a pony tail or messy bun, which will give you extra volume in the morning, when you can style your hair with straighteners, curlers, or just leave it if it falls nicely.

Next is your lips. I read that you shouldn't leave Vaseline on your lips overnight, as it will rub onto your face and give you spots. So, wear Vaseline in the evening, and gently remove the worst of it before you snuggle down. If you suffer from cracked lips, gently buff away the dry skin with a clean tooth brush before you sleep. Then, you can slick on some lip stain, to give your lips a bit of definition for when you wake. I have heard that Benefit Benetint has great staying power, but at £24.50, it is a bit of a stretch for some of us. For this reason, I use 2true cheek 'n' lip tint, which at £1.99 is much more affordable, though reapplication is necessary as the tint will fade after around an hour. I use a lipstick sealant to help it stick.

Moving onto the eyes now, and as an almost-natural blonde, I have very fair lashes. There are eyelash dyes for sale in Boots, but I haven't felt comfortable using dye so close to my eyes, so instead I have turned to false eyelashes. I use Eylure individual lashes, which I have only bought recently. I found them easy to apply, but had to trim the longer ones to stop myself looking like an alien. I can't yet comment on their staying power, but after browsing the reviews, it looks like they last up to three weeks realistically. They are semi-permanent and the glue is made for this purpose, so please don't sleep with strip lashes on. As the strips are in contact with your eyelid, the glue could irritate your eyes, which is definitely not attractive.

And finally, your entire face. I have recently discovered St. Moriz Fake Tan, which is a relatively cheap product, I bought it for around £5.00 in Savers. to use it on your face, first check you are not allergic by testing it on your wrist. If all is well, mix it fifty:fifty with a light facial moisturiser (you can put another layer on if you want to go darker, but do it gradually, orange face=not  good), exfoliate your face gently and leave for about half an hour, then apply. it is easiest to use cotton pads to smooth it over your face, as tanning mitts are too big and clumsy. A tan on your face will help even your skin tone and give you a morning glow, and acts as a semi permanent foundation. If you are feeling daring, use a more concentrated amount of tan under your cheek bones to contour your face. It is advisable to also tan the rest of your body, people may be suspicious if you aren't glowing head to toe. To complete your morning-perfect face, use your lip tint on your cheeks as a blusher, and you are good to go!

So, hopefully this post will help the females out there who set the alarm one hour early, so they can shove on some slap in time for the boyf to wake up. Go, sleep in peace, safe in the knowledge that you will wake up beautiful.

Vintage Lace

For my first post, I thought it important to write a little about myself, to set the scene and give you a little insight into why I am here, taking up your time with my thoughts.
