Vintage Lace

For my first post, I thought it important to write a little about myself, to set the scene and give you a little insight into why I am here, taking up your time with my thoughts.

I am a student studying a degree in Zoology. As this blog is dedicated to fashion, this may seem a tad odd, but I feel it important to start with as it says a lot about my character, though it does not define me completely. Since the age of 11 I discovered that if I couldn't find that perfect dress, it would not be entirely impossible to make it myself. I started off small, simply altering my clothes, trimming here, slimming there, but as time progressed I became more ambitious. I have never taken a sewing lesson in my life, and my clothes will never be sale-worthy. I sometimes have to redo stitches six months down the line, but who cares? I am proud of and love each one of my creations, even the unintentional monsters that are kept hidden from judging eyes in my 'oops' drawer. For this reason, many of my posts will be about amateur clothes making, because if I can do it, so can anyone (as my very enthusiastic flatmate recently discovered). As a poor student, my growing skills with a needle have never been more helpful. Due to my appalling lack of money, I am eternally grateful for the term 'vintage', Cut the label out of the dress you loved when you were six, wear it as a top and say it was your grandmothers and voila, its fab.

So, in short, I am a resourceful, 'champagne taste, lemonade money' girl who can talk the hind legs off a donkey. Welcome to my world of vintage lace (and fake champagne).
